ANSILTA XK SAN JUAN starts the 6th ARWS South American Regional Series

The 6th ARWS South America Series begins in the department of Iglesia, San Juan, Argentina with the Ansilta XK Race.

The 6th ARWS South America Series begins this Friday, the 24th, in the department of Iglesia, San Juan, Argentina.

Since its creation in 2020, more than 25 adventure races, in formats ranging from 12 to 48 hours, have qualified teams for the ARWS South American Championships, where the best team wins the continent's most prestigious adventure racing title and qualifies for the World Championships.

More than 150 athletes from across Argentina, competing in 4 different formats, will meet for the first race of the series at the XK race this coming weekend.

The chosen location is Rodeo, Iglesia, nestled in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, where the terrain will challenge technical navigation skills and physical endurance.

Alito Luchini, the Course Director, stated that “organizing a race in the Andes Mountains is complex, so we decided to start with a paddling stage to ensure the best conditions.”

The list of entrants promises a fierce battle for the top positions in the elite category as it includes the current South American champions, team SPORTOTAL SAN JUAN, as well as SAN JUAN SUICO, SAN JUAN AVENTURA, TEAM ANSILTA, MEDISPORT ATENAS, and INDÓMITOS, amongst others.

The winner will be the first team this year to secure a place at the ARWS South America Championship race, to be held in Paraguay in early 2027, which will qualify the best team on the continent for the 2027 World Championship in Croatia.

Regarding the race location, Gastón “Colo” Busso of XK says that “the province of San Juan has been a pioneer in adventure sports at the national level. The government knows this and welcomed us warmly, opening their doors to us.”

“The course will have long stretches of mountain biking with good navigation, but the night trek will be the deciding factor. The team with the best physical condition and that makes the fewest mistakes will be the winner, but we don't expect a clear leader from start to finish … positions will change and there will be drama,” Luchini added.

A 24-hour race in a remote and magical location, one of the most experienced organisers on the continent with 20 years of experience and more than 60 races behind them, top-level teams looking to qualify for the Championship and gain ranking points, a race staff that is like a family and goes out of their way for the competitors, and live tracking to follow all of the action!

The scene is set for a true adventure festival, which you can follow at https://exploraventura.tracktherace.com/ansilta-xk-race-san-juan and on Instagram @xkrace and @arwssouthamerica

The circuit continues with a double-header in mid-June, kicking off the ARWS Brazil Series with the Bituin Adventure Race and at La Gesta in Paraguay.
