Originally the brainchild of James Thurlow, ITERA is now organised by Durty Events - one of the most experienced adventure sport companies in the UK with over 200 events behind us. Paul McGreal was Race or Event Director for ITERA 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024. The Course Planner is ex-World Champion Tom Gibbs (also Course Planner in 2014, 2019, 2022 and 2023).The idea of showing off the country at its finest is what motivates the team behind the ITERA.

ITERA is a made-up word - ITER – Latin for “journey”.. and the “A” stood for little more than the ADVENTURE

The teams will be racing over 600km through Scotland over five days in August 2024. The Race HQ and Finish Line will be near Aviemore in the stunning Cairngorm Mountains. The start location and the course? You'll have to wait until August 2024 to find out!

In 2025 EXP Africa will host the traditional Fullmoon and Doublemoon Events. A 120km and 250km course set in the beautifull Magoebaskloof. The host venue will be the Magoebaskloof Mountain Lodge. With enough accommodation for all this will be the perfect family adventure weekend.

Take part in the ARWS European Championship 2025 in Finland's Lakeland.  Endurance Quest Saimaa is an adventure race held in the Lake Saimaa area. Finland's largest lake offers a variety of terrains perfect for kayaking, swimming running, and coasteering.

Scheduled for October 17-19th, this thrilling 180 km adventure race, under the direction of Paulo Omena, will encompass modalities such as trekking, swimming, paddling, mountain bike, rappelling, and ziplining.

Teams of four women choose from a short, medium or long-course adventure. The MAGNIficent offers an adrenaline-pumping, eye popping expedition adventure race in the incredible scenery of New Zealand's South Island.  The race is presented by the FEAR (Fiordland Expedition & Adventure Racing) Society in conjunction with Bend Racing with twin brothers Andy and Jason Magnes as Race Directors.

This race will take place in one of the wildest and most beautiful landscapes in the planet, the Chilean Andes Mountain range Fire Belt. 

The Drakensberg will host the return of Expedition Africa to South Africa after a short hiatus. This UNESCO World Heritage site, known as the "Dragon Mountain" is the highest mountain range in South Africa.

MISSION is one of the longest-running US Adventure races, rewarding good navigation and strategy. It is designed to push most teams all the way to 18 hours, creating an exciting finish line atmosphere. This year's race will have very affordable bunk bed lodging available on site, as well as meals included the night before and post-race.

Although Rajd Beskidy short course has "short" in its name, it is actually a challenging race that takes place in the hilly terrain on the border between Poland and the Czech Republic.

The Malacara Expedition race returns in 2026 with a fabulous new destination for the Brazilian ARWS Qualifier.

After the success of the first edition in 2024, the Pyrene Raid returns to explore a new area of the Huesca Pyrenees.

HSAC Chapter 4 takes place on the 30-31 May 2025. This premier adventure race, now a key part of the ARWS Regional Race (Asia Series) will challenge participants with a dynamic mix of trail running, mountain biking, waterfalls abseiling, orienteering and for our elite racers, an adrenaline pumping white water rafting segment. For the other categories, you’ll enjoy an exciting stand up paddling experience that’s sure to get your heart racing.

"Mountain Designs GeoQuest 48hr Adventure Race is the ultimate test of your physical and mental limits. There is no question, the race is tough and it is real adventure.

Your body will be totally exhausted, your brain will be begging you to stop and you’ll have had little or no sleep for 48 hours. Then if you are one of the lucky teams, you will crawl across the finish line. This is certainly not your average weekend!

Rajd Beskidy long course is an expedition race. It takes place in the mountainous terrain on the border between Poland and Slovakia. Its length (about 500 km), combined with significant elevation gain (about 15,000 m) and demanding navigation, means that it is a challenge even for the best teams.

In 2026, the HQ as well as the start and finish, will be located in Poland, although most of the route will run through Slovakia. Participants will visit several national parks and places unknown even to local competitors. Traditionally, besides typical disciplines such as MTB, trekking, and paddling, teams will have to tackle navigation tasks requiring precision and attention, rope work, shooting, and other tasks making it necessary for participants to be versatile. They will receive various types of maps: lidar, itineraries, and transformed maps. The course is intended exclusively for four-person mixed teams. They certainly won't be bored.

Gear up for Incredible India with 4th National Adventure Racing Championship. 

Montane Adventure Race takes place in the Copenhagen area and gives the participants unique experiences in nature as they seek out spectacular features and complete challenges along the course. It's a team race where orienteering, running, mountain biking, climbing and canoeing (only the master route) are the main ingredients. The race is known for it's challenging navigation and innovative challenges, which have included tree climbing, and a checkpoint on a fighter jet!

 Raid in France: an adventure race like no other in total autonomy. The concept is simple: 4 racers (including at least one woman) completely immerged in the wilderness for a 4 to 6 days non-stop adventure. The route remains secret until the race starts. The itineraries are uncovered in real time by the participants during the race.

“Die Ratel”, meaning Honey Badger in Afrikaans (a local language in South Africa) is set to be a raw old-school adventure - alike to a Honey Badger, tough, honest and a challenge so worth taking on!
