ARWS racing in South America 2025 includes two expedition length, international races which are Qualifiers for the Adventure Racing World Championship, and a series of shorter regional races which form the South America Series.
The Qualfiers are 5-7 day, non-stop, races, from 400-500m in length. The winners receive automatic, free entry to the Adventure Racing World Championship and all teams receive points in the ARWS global rankings. The 2025 South America Qualifier races are Tierra Indomita Vulcania in Chile and Malacara Race in Brazil. (Other races, not active in 2025 are; Huairasinchi in Ecuador, Expedicion Guarani in Paraguay, PC12 Adventure Race in Colombia and the Panama Adventure Race .)
The ARWS South America series is a collection of the best mid-distance adventure races in the region, set to test athletes over 100-250km of non-stop day and night racing. (Qualifiers are not part of the regional series.)
2025 series races take place in Paraguay, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Ecuador. (There is also an ARWS Brazil Series of 4 races.) The winning teams at each series race get a free place at the Ansilta XK Traverse race in Neuquén, Argentina, which hosts the 2025 Regional Championship.
All participating teams earn points towards the ARWS South America ranking and the winning premier mixed team at the Championship race earns a free place at the Adventure Racing World Championship. (To qualify at least 2 of the team must be from South America and go the World Championship.)
