The competition course runs in the area of the ancient counties of Sakala and Nurmekunna, i.e. in modern Viljandi, Pärnu and Järva County, and is about 230 km long. Beautiful untouched forests and bogs, as well as an exciting cultural landscape and special individual objects of nature, remain on the way. The trail is not marked - it is covered according to the map on the participants' own strength, advice and responsibility without outside help and motorized aids.
The course is divided into stages that can be completed on foot, by bicycle and by watercraft. On the way, you have to pass the control points shown on the map, between which there is a specific movement path for each team to choose. Checkpoint locations and detailed instructions will be disclosed to participants shortly before the expedition.
The route takes you from well-established trails to untouched, more difficult terrain (also without trails), which makes it a true wilderness expedition. Hard surface roads can be used minimally. The predicted fastest time for a sporty non-stop course is approx. 20 hours, but the course is open for up to 40 hours, so it is also possible to complete it more calmly and with rest breaks. Expedition Estonia is not for the faint of heart. Completing this trail alone is one of the most difficult physical and mental challenges that you can pose to yourself in Estonia. But to win, you have to be particularly tough, smart and extremely durable...
Spectators can experience the competition in the start and finish areas and in the changing areas between stages. There will also be real-time GPS tracking of all participants throughout the trip.
