Race Description:

"The ARWS Borneo Sebauh Adventure Race 2026 is a strategic community-based endurance sporting event designed to position Sebauh, Bintulu, Sarawak as a rising destination for adventure tourism, eco-sports, and sustainable rural economic development. The event will be hosted by the Sebauh District Office and supported by the Bintulu Resident Office. The event has also been personally briefed to Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, and YBhg. Mr. Mohd Amirul Rizal bin Abdul Rahim, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, both of whom have expressed their support for the initiative.

The event is being positioned for inclusion within the Sarawak Tourism Calendar 2026, with upcoming engagement planned with the Sarawak Tourism Board to align with state tourism priorities and destination promotion strategies.

The event is built around three key unique selling points.

First, Community Immersion and Cultural Exchange through Homestay Accommodation allows racers to experience authentic longhouse living while directly supporting local communities as hosts. This strengthens sustainable tourism capacity and creates meaningful cultural exchange between local residents and both local and international elite racers.

Second, Cultural Craft and Youth Development focuses on preserving heritage and building future talent. Official event items such as Raga Iban, Terabai (Shield), and Lupong, inspired by Iban heritage and handcrafted by local longhouse communities, will strengthen event identity while generating local income and pride. In addition, the Orienteering Clinic & Race empowers youth with navigation, resilience, and outdoor survival skills, creating early exposure to structured sports development pathways.

Third, Local Livelihood and River Experience integrates traditional river transport into the race, creating an authentic experience while directly supporting local livelihoods. This initiative provides income opportunities for traditional boat owners and paddlers through boat rental and operational involvement during the event.

In summary, ARWS Borneo Sebauh Adventure Race 2026 is more than a race—it is a platform for tourism growth, community empowerment, youth development, and long-term sustainable regional impact."
