ARWS South America Series Continues in Chile with the Desert Challenge

This coming weekend the experienced organising team of Tierra Indomita AR, led by Nelson Yañez, will stage a 26-hour adventure race over 155km in the Valparaiso region, with international teams arriving in Chile for the ARWS South America race.

On Saturday, 09/28 at noon, nearly 50 athletes from Chile and Argentina will begin with a trekking stage followed by MTB, trekking, MTB and a final 25k paddle stage, visiting the communes of Casablanca, Villa Alemana and Limache.

The winners will qualify directly to the ARWS South American Championship to be held in February 2025 in Uruguay, where they will face qualified teams from Paraguay, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.

The level of the registered teams in Chile promises an epic battle that can be followed live at the link: https://modoultra.cl/desert-ar-2024/seguimiento

Amongst the strongest teams is Team Merrell led by the experienced athlete Andrés Miller (he finished in the top 10 at ARWC 2023 with Andes Racing).  Other contenders will be the two San Juan Aventura teams from Argentina, gathered by Martín Osores (who won Exp. Guaraní 2023) and the teams from the Chilean Naval School which, according to Nelson, have excellent navigation and terrain reading.

Nobody has it easy in adventure racing and this Sunday, after a tough Desert Challenge, a new team will register its name at the continental level and win their chance to face the best in South America next February.
