For Immediate Release
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, also known as the Supreme Head or the King of Malaysia, officiated and acknowledged the Adventure Race ( AR ) World Series Malaysia during the 100th Anniversary celebration of Fraser Hill ( a mountain resort in the state of Pahang ).
The AR Malaysia race is scheduled from 19-23 Oct 2019 will take place starting from the capital of Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur and finishing in Kuantan, Pahang.
Leading up to the official Demonstration race, GAC Adventure Consultant will host a 12 Hours Raid at the end of July for Malaysian athletes to experience what Adventure Racing is all about. Endurance athletes and outdoor racing enthusiasts can sign up for the 12 Hours Raid as well as the 400km Demonstration race course that will includes trail running, mountain biking, rafting, kayaking, caving and more.
Like other ARWS races, participants are required to make up teams of four athletes of which a minimum of ONE of them being the opposite sex. They will battle not only other teams but also challenging weather conditions, an unknown course that will only be revealed at the starting point, and physical as well as mental fatigue as they race non-stop day and night. All team members are required to finish the course for the entire team to be classified. The team that comes in first position will receive priority to enter next year’s AR World Series as well as the prize money of USD5,000.
“Other than an individual’s fitness level and mental agility, external factors such as climate play an important role when it comes to completing this extremely challenging race. The traditional climate for AR World Series is temperate; however, because Malaysia is a tropical country, it will offer a unique experience, giving athletes the opportunity to race in a different climate which in itself is a challenge to the mind and body. This will further push the athletes in developing their endurance skills and strength.
The race is supported by the Tourism Pahang and endorsed by the King of Malaysia.
Registration for the AR World Series Demo Race opens on 1 May 2019. Categories include Mixed Teams that must consist of at least one female or one male, and Youth for participants between the ages of 18 to 21.
Participants who sign up from 1 May 2019 to 1 June 2019 will get to enjoy an early bird fee of USD740 (for Malaysian teams) and USD1,500 (for international teams). Thereafter, the entry fees are USD870 (for Malaysian teams), USD1,800 (for international teams), and USD400 (for Malaysian teams) and USD500 (for international teams) under the Youth category.
