A strong field of 37 teams will take on the AR World Series race Expedición Guaraní in Paraguay from 6 – 11 March. In the full length expedition category 21 of the teams are internationals which is a great sign for the event who joined the ARWS last year.
Race Organiser Gustavo Borgognon is assisted again by Urtzi Iglesias as the course designer. While Urtzi won’t be able to race with his team world number 2 ranked team Columbia Vidaraid, this team is still considered race favourites and have been the winners of the previous editions of Expedición Guaraní.
The team DSN74 from France will arrive soon in Paraguay and be a team to watch as the race unfolds. They were winners of the ARWS race in Argentina race last year and have proven experience racing in South America.
Ansilta-Viento Adino from Argentina placed 3rd last year at Expedición Guaraní and will hope to use their experience to better their result this time.
Team Cyanosis from South Africa have high hopes for the race and are making their first appearance outside of South Africa since their 8th place at the 2011 AR World Championship.
Expedicion Guarani is well known for taking teams off the tourist trails and into the heart of the region to experience the local culture and environment. Pre-race information announced the race this year will be a straight out linear adventure race and include three Mountain Bike legs of 90km, 72km and 103km; two trekking legs of 35km and 55km; two kayaking legs of 55km and 90km; and one roping section.
The race starts on Monday 6th March so make sure to watch the live coverage.
